A buddy of mine suggested I give these guys a listen and I must say I appreciate the recommendation. The SF based band released their first album, Lonely Road Revival in ‘06 on Alive Records.

At first listen, I was immediately reminded of Uncle Tupelo as they succeeded in combining the twangy appeal of alt-country with the hard driving energy of punk, led by the rhythm section of Steve Kerwin and Morgan Stickrod.

At the forefront of the band is lead singer and rhythm guitarist Pete Fraudenfelder and lead guitarist Andrew Kerwin. Kerwin effortlessly picks and plucks his way throughout the album, never missing a beat throughout the numerous tempo changes. Fraudenfelder’s delivery and down-on-your luck lyrics work perfectly with the frantic energy brought forth by the music, and his harmoninizing with Kerwin will have you reminiscing of Tweedy and Farrar.

Highlights include “Your Sisters And Your Sisters Friends,” “Christmas Time Blues” and “In and Out Of Love”.

Hey There,

I really like your blog. You cover really great stuff. I couldn’t find a place to email you so I had to leave it as a comment…

My name is Rosy Nolan and I just released an album that I would like to get reviewed. It is called “Phantom Hymns.” It’s a mix of Americana and Southern Rock.
If you are interested, I’d be happy to send you a copy.

To check out some of the tunes off the album, you can go to:
