They aren't afraid of experimentation, but they don't stray far from their roots either. Great bands do that. They keep you on your toes as a fan and you can't wait to see what happens next. Wilco is like that. Sting is like that (just kidding - you all know my stance on Sting and his f-ing lute). Your boys brought up some good bands to argue, but each one of those listed bores the crap out of me. I also wouldn't put them above Wilco just yet. They need to put out one more album for me to make that call. Sounded like a great night in Chicago, but how do you make that decision? I don't know who I'd go see... I saw them in Louisville the night before Thanksgiving, and was completely blown away. They are peaking right now...I just hope Jim James doesn't OD before we get another album out of them.
