The Internet Archive: Find Your Live Music

I’ve spent the last few evenings digging into The Internet Archive and am falling in love….or maybe in lust. If you haven’t been to the site before, start at the Live Music Archive page to find a list of hundreds of bands and an incredible amount of streaming concerts and free downloads. You’ll need to sample a few songs to get a feel for quality since many are audience recordings, but look for the shows with MP3’s that you can download. I downloaded My Morning Jacket and the Drive-By Truckers and was shocked at the quality of the MMJ show. DBT wasn’t as crystal clear, but still a good listen. I’ve got plenty of exploring to go, but thought I’d spread the love.

Here are the two shows I downloaded.

My Morning Jacket Live at Petrillo Music Shell – Taste of Chicago on 2006-07-04 (July 4, 2006)

Drive-By Truckers Live at Chameleon on 2006-09-27 (September 27, 2006)

Thanks for the reminder! I’ve downloaded several shows from Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Red Sparowes and other post-rock outfits here and need to go back and look for other things.

Archives are cool.
